The Board of Barbers and Cosmetologists sets standards for licensure and renewals to ensure licensed professionals and establishments meet the required standards of education, competency, and practice so customers receive quality services.

The board regulates the following license types:

The board investigates complaints from customers and inspects establishments to guarantee all sanitation and infection control standards are met. The board takes appropriate disciplinary action when there are violations of the rules and laws.

ANNOUNCEMENT: Discontinuation of Booth Establishment Licensing

The Regulation and Licensing Department and the Board of Barbers and Cosmetologists no longer require a license to rent a booth as of November 15, 2021. Individuals will no longer need to apply for booth establishment licenses and current licensees will not be required to renew any active booth establishment license or process change of location applications.
